Rifampicin-induced nephrotoxicity in a tuberculosis patient

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Tuberculosis and Other Mycobacterial Diseases, 2015
Rifampicin is a widely used anti-tuberculosis agent. On rare occasions, the drug can cause adverse effects such as acute renal failure, though most regain complete renal function upon discontinuation of therapy.

Trapping of Ar on well ordered Ar, Kr, and Xe overlayers on Pt(1 1 1) at 30 K

open access: yesSurface Science, 2000
The dynamics of Ar trapping on Ar, Kr, and Xe covered Pt(1 1 1) were investigated using supersonic molecular beam techniques at a surface temperature of 30 K. The initial trapping probability of Ar on the clean surface decreases from 0.8 to 0 as the normal incident energy is increased from 1.75 to 28 kJ mol−1, and scales with normal incident energy ...

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

SUR Estimation of Error Components Models With AR(1) Disturbances and Unobserved Endogenous Effects [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper focuses on the estimation of error components models in the presence of a correlation of the disturbances across equations and AR(1) of the remainder disturbances for panel data with endogenous unobserved effects.

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

The C‐terminal region of KIF26B is indispensable for nephron progenitor condensation and kidney formation in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KIF26B plays an important role in kidney development. We engineered mice lacking the C‐terminal region of KIF26B and found severe kidney defects, including bilateral renal agenesis, similar to full Kif26b knockout mice. The mutation disrupted nephron progenitor condensation and reduced Gdnf‐Wnt11 signaling, showing that the KIF26B C‐terminal region is ...
