Arab Sign language Recognition with Convolutional Neural Networks

2019 International Conference of Computer Science and Renewable Energies (ICCSRE), 2019
The implementation of an automatic recognition system for Arab sign language (ArSL) has a major social and humanitarian impact. With the growth of the deaf-dump community, such a system will help in integrating those people and enjoy a normal life.

A Proposed Hybrid Sensor Architecture for Arabic Sign Language Recognition

2015
Sign language recognition is a promising application that breaks the barrier between deaf and normal people. However most researchers in different sign language recognition systems employ a single type of sensors to capture signs. In this paper, hybrid heterogeneous types of sensors are integrated to capture all sign features.

Arabic sign language recognition in user-independent mode

2007 International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems, 2007
In this paper we present a method for recognizing isolated Arabic sign language gestures in a user-independent mode. The proposed method requires that signers wear gloves to simplify the process of segmenting out the hands of the signer via color segmentation.

Facial expressions recognition for arabic sign language translation

2014 9th International Conference on Computer Engineering & Systems (ICCES), 2014
Contrary to the common sense that tells us sign language depends mainly on hands, other factors such as facial expressions, body movements and lips affect dramatically a sign meaning. Arabic Sign Language (ArSL) tends to be a descriptive gesture language, facial expressions are involved in 70% of total signs.

Multiple Proposals for Continuous Arabic Sign Language Recognition

Sensing and Imaging, 2019
The deaf community relies on sign language as the primary means of communication. For the millions of people around the world who suffer from hearing loss, interaction with hearing people is quite difficult. The main objective of sign language recognition (SLR) is the development of automatic SLR systems to facilitate communication with the deaf ...

Arabic sign language recognition based on HOG descriptor

SPIE Proceedings, 2017
We present in this paper a new approach for Arabic sign language (ArSL) alphabet recognition using hand gesture analysis. This analysis consists in extracting a histogram of oriented gradient (HOG) features from a hand image and then using them to generate an SVM Models.
