Stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci (Kuhn) Filipjev) is a destructive pest of many different plants. It occurs as ‘races’ or ‘strains’ which differ in the range of host plants that they attack. One or more races infesting oats can also attack rye, sugar beet, fodder beet, man-gel, field bean, pea, vetch and, occasionally, potato among agricultural crops.
