Trapping is not effective for limiting damage by Vespa velutina in vineyards
Pest Management Science, EarlyView.Vespa velutina is an invasive hornet that damages grapes. Baited traps are commonly used to mitigate them, but trap effectiveness in vineyards has not been tested. Our study found no significant reduction in damage from trapping, and high and variable by‐catch rates. Sustainable vineyard management methods should be explored.
