A case of necrotising arachnidism
Arachnidism is a clinical entity occuring as local or systemic manifestations after a spider bite. Bite of Loxosceles spiders causes a clinical reaction termed as loxoscelism. Cutaneous loxoscelism manifests as cutaneous necrosis whereas systemic symptoms and findings are observed in visserocutaneous loxoscelism.

Intravascular Coagulation: The Cause of Necrotic Arachnidism
Venom from the brown recluse spider (Loxosceles reclusa) when injected into the skin of rabbits causes a characteristic inflammatory necrotic ulcer, comparable to the natural necrotic spider bite seen in man.

Abstract Background Jointed appendages represent one of the key innovations of arthropods, and thus understanding the development and evolution of these structures is important for the understanding of the evolutionary success of Arthropoda. In this paper, we analyze a cell cluster that was identified in a previous single‐cell sequencing (SCS ...

Digging into dirt: Rewilding with threatened mammals shapes soil‐emerging insect assemblages
By comparing insect communities across treatments at two time points, we show that reintroduced digging mammals shape soil‐emerging insect assemblages. This provides empirical evidence that restoring ecosystem engineers may drive broader community‐level change in semi‐arid ecosystems. Abstract Digging mammals function as ecosystem engineers by altering

Iflaviruses in arthropods: when small is mighty
Many arthropod species harbor iflaviruses, which often cause covert (asymptomatic) infections, but may still affect host fitness. We review the impact of iflaviruses on arthropod fitness, immunity, behaviour as well as the iflavirus’ host range, transmission, tissue tropism and the interactions with other microorganisms within arthropods.
