A Brain‐Wide Atlas of Astrocytic Oxytocin Receptors Reveals a Glial Basis for Nucleus Accumbens Modulation of Affiliative Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The cellular actors of oxytocin signaling are under intense scrutiny. A brain‐wide anatomical and functional analysis in mice and rats reveals widespread expression of oxytocin receptors in astrocytes. These receptors are functionally active and, in the nucleus accumbens, selectively regulate male social affiliation.

Health‐related quality of life following total minimally invasive, hybrid minimally invasive or open oesophagectomy: a population‐based cohort study

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
All patients operated for oesophageal cancer in Sweden from 2013 to April 2018 were identified, and 246 patients were recruited to this population‐based nationwide Swedish study. The results show that longitudinal health‐related quality of life after minimally invasive oesophagectomy was similar to that of the open surgical approach.

Adult Sex Ratio as a Demographic Feedback Linking Mating Systems, Parental Care, and Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Breeding systems are some of the most diverse social behavior, and our team is investigation the evolutionary causes of this diversity. This review summarises our research carried out at the University of Bath. We argue that demographic components of wild populations, especially the adult sex ratio, plays a key role driving breeding system variation ...

Microbial Odorant Detection Guides Drosophila Parasitoids Seeking Hosts in Fermenting Fruits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Yeast microbes in fermenting fruits attract both host flies and their parasitoid wasps. Female Leptopilina boulardi detect yeast‐emitted ethyl esters via two olfactory receptors, LbouOR167 and LbouOR136. A conserved residue, Leu159, is critical for binding these compounds, enabling female wasps to locate host‐rich habitats.

Chemically Regulated STING‐Activating Prodrugs of Deoxyribose Cyclic Dinucleotides Elicit Robust Immune Activation and Durable Antitumor Immunity

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
All three diastereoisomers of an esterase‐sensitive phosphotriester dCDN prodrug demonstrate improved activity. The (Rp,Rp) diastereoisomer shows the highest activity with an EC50 of 1.7 nM in STING activation and displays the most pronounced antitumor activity via intravenous administration, significantly suppressing tumor proliferation, extending the

Topology‐Enriched Toughness Enhancement in Quasi‐Periodic Metastructures Featuring Tailorable Strong‐Weak Network

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A quasi‐periodic Dart‐Kite (QDK) metastructure with a golden‐ratio‐constrained strong–weak bond network simultaneously enhances strength, toughness, and damage tolerance. Its distributed topology enables predictable, tailorable crack paths for precise fracture control and stable mechanics, demonstrating a high‐performance, controllable architecture ...

Intracranial aneurysm and arachnoid cyst: just a coincidence? A case report

open access: yesSão Paulo Medical Journal, 2017
CONTEXT: Presence of an arachnoid cyst and a non-ruptured intracystic brain aneurysm is extremely rare. The aim of this paper was to describe a case of a patient with an arachnoid cyst and a non-ruptured aneurysm inside it.

Synergistic Dual Slip‐Link Toughening of a Water‐Rich Double Network Hydrogel Combining Slide‐Ring and Highly Entangled Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Two distinct slip‐link mechanisms – the slide‐ring pulley effect and highly entangled chains – are combined in a water‐rich double network hydrogel, achieving synergistic toughening, near‐complete reversibility, and exceptional friction tear resistance at >$>$91 wt.% water.

Concomitant spontaneous subdural and intracystic hematoma in arachnoid cyst: a case report and review of the literature

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports
Background Intracystic hematoma in arachnoid cyst are a very rare pathology that commonly occurs after head trauma, while spontaneous intracystic hematomas in arachnoid cyst associated with subdural hematoma is extremely rare.

Lumbosacral arachnoid cyst with tethered cord: A rare case report

open access: yesJournal of Craniovertebral Junction and Spine, 2012
Arachnoid cysts are cerebrospinal fluid collections in the spine that can present with neurological symptoms or be discovered accidentally. Intradural location of such cysts especially in the lumbosacral region is relatively rare. The association of such
