Experimental and Numerical Study of Plain-Woven Aramid Fabric

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
In this paper, the tensile properties of plain-woven aramid fabric style 724 (Kevlar® 129 fibre, 1000 denier, 24×24 yarns per inch) and the tensile properties of individual aramid yarn extracted from the fabric are presented. It was found that this fabric is balanced with less than 5% difference in strength between the warp and weft directions.

Stab and puncture characterization of thermoplastic-impregnated aramid fabrics

International Journal of Impact Engineering, 2009
The cut and puncture resistance of thermoplastic (TP) impregnated, woven aramid fabric is characterized under quasi-static and dynamic stab testing conditions. Polyethylene, Surlyn®, and co-extruded polyethylene–Surlyn films of various thicknesses are laminated into fabrics and compared with neat fabrics at equal weights and layer counts.

Dyeing properties of meta-aramid fabric dyed with basic dye using ultrasonic-microwave irradiation

, 2020
Aramid fibers are typically problematic to dye as a result of their extremely crystalline structure and high compactness. Ultrasonic and microwave irradiation are part of the recent most simple, low-cost, and valued technologies in textile dyeing.

New lightweight parachute fabrics of Kevlar aramid fiber

10th Aerodynamic Decelerator Conference, 1989
A 1.1 oz/yd2 parachute fabric has been developed based on a new 55 denier Kevlar** aramid fiber. This fabric, Style 172, has 3X the strength of nylon at the same weight and thickness and is nonmelting. Fabric construction is a 72x72, 2x2 twill weave and air permeability is adjustable from 50 to 150 CFM/FT depending on end-use.
