Nutrition‐Associated Biomarkers in Predicting Intravenous Immunoglobulin Resistance and Coronary Artery Lesions in Kawasaki Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 1, January 2025.
Pooling the data from 94 articles indicated lower ALB, PNI and higher CAR were associated with an increased risk of IVIG resistance and CALs in Kawasaki disease children, with the predictive power of > 0.6 or > 0.7. Reduced PA and elevated BAR were also found in IVIG‐resistant patients compared with controls.

Assessing the risk of overexploitation to a tarantula species in the pet trade

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 38, Issue 5, October 2024.
Abstract The global pet trade in invertebrates remains poorly understood and underrepresented in policy and research. Tarantulas are a highly traded invertebrate group. Many individuals in trade are wild caught, and trade regulation is often lacking, raising concerns about the effect of trade on local ecosystems and populations.

Eco‐evolutionary origins and diversification in a megadiverse hotspot: Arthropods in the Greater Cape Floristic Region

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2024.
The Greater Cape Floristic Region at the southern tip of Africa is a global megadiversity hotspot. The region's biodiversity has been driven by a long history of topographic, climatic, and sea level change coupled with geological uplift, and without being exposed to any major climate events such as glaciations since the breakup of Gondwana.

The Andes as a semi‐permeable geographical barrier: Genetic connectivity between structured populations in a widespread spider

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 11, June 2024.
Abstract Geographical barriers like mountain ranges impede genetic exchange among populations, promoting diversification. The effectiveness of these barriers in limiting gene flow varies between lineages due to each species' dispersal modes and capacities. Our understanding of how the Andes orogeny contributes to species diversification comes from well‐

Spatio‐temporal species aggregations do not rule out interspecific competition in tree hollow spider assemblages Las agregaciones espaciotemporales entre especies no descartan la competencia interespecífica en los ensambles de arañas de las oquedades arbóreas

open access: yesEcological Entomology, Volume 49, Issue 1, Page 106-118, February 2024.
Abundance data reflects the reality of biological systems better than the presence/absence of data. Spatial species aggregations do not imply that interspecific competition is absent while spatial segregations do not mean that it is, considering species morphoecological traits and phenology.
