Reports on Cretaceous charcoals are relatively common on a global scale and have been increasing in recent years. Fossil charcoal from the Early Cretaceous mostly belongs to conifers (and other gymnosperms) and ferns whereas angiosperms become more common only during the Late Cretaceous.
