Temporal Changes in Land Use Highlight the Vulnerability of Highland Grasslands in Protected Areas in Southern Brazil

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 1, January 2026.
Subtropical Highland Grasslands showed greater net conversion than Mixed Ombrophilous Forest across our study PAs. In one PA created to conserve Highland Grasslands, net grassland loss inside the PA exceeded loss in adjacent buffer zones during the study period.

BIOMASSA E CARBONO ORGÂNICO EM POVOAMENTOS DE Araucaria angustifolia (Bertol.) Kuntze

open access: yesCiência Florestal, 2015
The objective was to estimate the biomass and organic carbon in Araucaria angustifolia stands with different ages. The Araucaria angustifolia stands studied were not pruning but were thinning in difference ages.

O cultivo da araucária para produção de pinhões como ferramenta para a conservação

open access: yesPesquisa Florestal Brasileira, 2012
A madeira da araucária (Araucaria angustifolia  (Bertol.) O. Kuntze) teve grande importância econômica no Brasil, principalmente entre 1930 e 1970. O desmatamento ocasionou a redução drástica do tamanho populacional de araucária e atualmente ela integra ...

Structural and Functional Properties of Araucaria araucana and Araucaria angustifolia Seed Proteins as a Plant‐Based Food Source

open access: yesSustainable Food Proteins, Volume 3, Issue 4, December 2025.
Morphologically, A. angustifolia seeds were significantly larger, while A. araucana exhibited more regular, triangular shapes. Proximate composition revealed a carbohydrate‐rich profile in both species, with a significantly higher lipid content in A. araucana. Amino acid analysis showed similar profiles, with high levels of aspartic and glutamic acids.

Endophytic fungi associated with Araucaria angustifolia (Bertol.) Kuntze

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências
The diversity of endophytes and their ecological relationships with the endangered conifer Araucaria angustifolia (a critically endangered species) are unrevealed. This study aimed to characterize the diversity of endophytic fungi associated with A. angustifolia.

Resource suitability drives low use of avian‐excavated tree cavities: A multi‐state occupancy dynamics approach

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 94, Issue 11, Page 2295-2307, November 2025.
Birds that nest in tree cavities are sometimes dependent on a few cavity‐excavating bird species to make nesting sites available. Such interdependency, however, does not always materialize because excavated cavities may be unsuitable for continued use, even when available for several years after excavation.

Unveiling Dispersal Strength on a Metacommunity of Dung Beetles in a Heterogeneous Landscape

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 50, Issue 11, November 2025.
Our study examines the dispersal dynamics of dung beetles across heterogeneous landscapes, shedding light on their habitat preferences and community structure. We identified patterns of dispersal and habitat association across forest, woodland and grassland habitats.
