Rodent handling of Araucaria araucana seeds

Austral Ecology, 2012
AbstractIn an intermast year of very low seed production, we studied seed handling in an Araucaria araucana (Araucariaceae) forest in Neuquén Province, Argentina. Rodents identified in 844 photographs from automatic cameras removed 589 seeds marked with small embedded magnets. Within 12 days of removal, 460 were recovered using a magnetic field locator;

Phenolic composition, antioxidant capacity and α-glucosidase inhibitory activity of raw and boiled Chilean Araucaria araucana kernels.

Food Chemistry, 2021
The Araucaria araucana kernels are a traditional food in southern Chile and Argentina. The aim of this work was to determine the composition of the phenolic-enriched extracts (PEEs) of the boiled kernels as well as their antioxidant capacity, inhibitory ...

Araucaria araucana — Die ökologische Strategie einer Reliktkonifere

Flora, 1995
Summary The reproduction and dispersal strategy of the relict conifer Araucaria araucana (M ol .) K och in the Villarrica National Park in Southern Chile is discussed. Mapping based on aerial photographs shows the distribution of the species and of the plant communities in which Araucaria grows.

Ophiostoma pehueninum, a new species associated with Araucaria araucana in Chile

Phytotaxa, 2018
During a survey of fungi on Araucaria araucana in Chile, a species of Ophiostoma morphologically different to O. araucariae was collected in the Andean region. Morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses of ITS, β-tubulin and EF-1α sequences confirmed that this species represents a novel taxon.

Populations of dwarf araucaria (Araucaria araucana) in the Nahuelbuta coastal range, Chile

2008
Araucaria araucana (araucaria or pehuén) can normally reach > 20 m in height in most sites where it grows. However, two dwarf populations of A. Araucana were found at the top of the Nahuelbuta coastal range. This study had the goal of characterizing the structure, composition, ages and chemical and physical soil properties of both populations. These
