Starch Characterisation of Araucaria angustifolia and Araucaria araucana Seeds

open access: yesStarch - Stärke, 2007
AbstractAraucaria angustifolia and Araucaria araucana are conifers that cover different areas of South America. Their seeds have been consumed from prehistoric times until today in Brazil, Argentina and Chile. In this work, the starch of Araucaria angustifolia and Araucaria araucana seeds were analysed by light and environmental scanning electron ...

Male reproductive structures of Araucaria araucana and Wollemia nobilis (Araucariaceae, Coniferales) in light of conifer evolution

open access: yesFeddes Repertorium, Volume 135, Issue 4, Page 305-324, December 2024.
Abstract Pollen cones of Araucaria araucana and Wollemia nobilis were investigated. They consist of hundreds of hyposporangiate microsporangiophores with numerous microsporangia, arranged in up to three abaxial rows. Convincing evidence was found that excludes the widely accepted sporophyll concept of coniferous microsporangiophores.

Recognition of the geographical origin and sex of Patagonian forests of Araucaria araucana through the analysis of leaves by FT-NIR: A methodological approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Introduction: Plant physiology and growth vary along environmental gradients. Because tree species respond to climate variables and soil properties, these environmental gradients may reflect the chemical or structural leaf compounds.

Beneficial Effects of a Root-Endophytic Bacterium with Quorum-Sensing Traits on Growth and Drought Tolerance in the Vulnerable Conifer Araucaria araucana

open access: yesPlants
Climate change-induced drought threatens the persistence of Araucaria araucana, an endangered and endemic conifer of the Southern Andes. Beneficial plant–microbe interactions may contribute to drought resilience.
