The making of pure quartzose sand in continental interiors: Paraná River (Brazil and Argentina)

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 73, Issue 3, Page 802-837, April 2026.
ABSTRACT As part of a comprehensive project on sedimentary processes in South America, this study focuses on sediment generation in the intracratonic Paraná Basin and monitors the evolution of sand composition along the Paraná River from central Brazil to the Río de la Plata estuary in Argentina.

Phosphogypsum Doses and Subsoil Contamination: A Study on the Mobility of Rare Earth Elements, Uranium, and Thorium

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Soil Science, Volume 77, Issue 2, March–April 2026.
Experiment setup view. ABSTRACT Soil conditioners are commonly used by producers aiming to enhance agricultural productivity, and among these products, phosphogypsum has gained increasing attention. As an agricultural amendment, phosphogypsum contains rare earth elements (REE), uranium (U), and thorium (Th), raising environmental concerns regarding its

Competitive Ni/Mn Reduction and Microstrain‐Coupled Negative Thermal Expansion in Delithiated Li‐Rich Cathodes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 9, 23 February 2026.
In situ high‐temperature X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and absorption spectroscopy (XAS) reveal state dependent thermal evolution of Li1.2Ni0.2Mn0.6O2. Pristine electrodes transform from layered‐to‐spinel, while cycled electrodes convert directly to Li‐containing rock‐salt. The onset temperature drops with delithiation and partly recovers after relithiation.

Understanding the Role of Nb Doping in Modulating Ionic Diffusion Kinetics and Particle Size in Spinel LiMn2O4

open access: yesBattery Energy, Volume 5, Issue 1, January 2026.
Niobium (Nb) incorporation into spinel LiMn2O4 achieves simultaneous enhancement of ionic diffusion kinetics and particle size. After Nb doping, the overall surface energy decreases, promoting particle growth. Despite the increased particle size, the introduction of niobium significantly improves the rate capability and effectively mitigates ...

Lead‐Free (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 Unmodified Piezoceramics: A Reduction in the Energetic Budget of Solid State Synthesis and Sintering

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 5, Issue 12, November 2025.
The temperature of the solid‐state synthesis of pure (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 piezo‐composition is reduced by using the niobium pentoxide reactant in the mixture of reagents after attrition milling for only 3h: a majoritarian (57 wt.% of the total Nb2O5 content) orthorhombic polymorph Pbam.
