Mass Gatherings, Health, and Well‐Being: From Risk Mitigation to Health Promotion
Abstract Mass gatherings are routinely viewed as posing risks to physical health. However, social psychological research shows mass gathering participation can also bring benefits to psychological well‐being. We describe how both sets of outcomes can be understood as arising from the distinctive forms of behavior that may be found when people—even ...

Beyond porosity: The electrodes of vanadium redox‐flow batteries are usually carbon felt materials, whose porous structure makes detailed investigations of the vanadium‐ion kinetics difficult. Studies on single carbon‐fiber electrodes from commercial carbon felt materials can contribute to a better understanding of the electrode processes.

Optimal Control of Diesel Engines: Numerical Methods, Applications, and Experimental Validation
In response to the increasingly stringent emission regulations and a demand for ever lower fuel consumption, diesel engines have become complex systems. The exploitation of any leftover potential during transient operation is crucial. However, even an experienced calibration engineer cannot conceive all the dynamic cross couplings between the many ...

The numerical solution of optimal control problems by direct collocation is a widely used approach. Quasi‐Newton approximations of the Hessian of the Lagrangian of the resulting nonlinear program are also common practice. We illustrate that the transcribed problem is separable with respect to the primal variables and propose the application of dense ...

Integrin β3 Orchestrates Hepatic Steatosis via a Novel CD36‐Dependent Lipid Uptake Complex
In MASH, ITGB3 recruits LYN and drives its ubiquitin‐proteasomal degradation via phosphorylation. This relieves DHHC5 inhibition, enabling ITGB3/DHHC5/CD36 complex assembly to enhance CD36 palmitoylation and fatty acid uptake, thereby exacerbating disease. Targeting ITGB3 blocks this pathogenic axis and ameliorates MASH.

Multidimensional Regional Development in EU: A Systematic Review
ABSTRACT Regional disparities within the EU remain a persistent challenge, demanding comprehensive research. Enhancing cohesion and convergence while promoting sustainability between and within its regions is crucial to addressing these disparities. This study conducts a systematic literature review on regional development in the EU, identifying key ...

Bake Sales to Save Nature: Why Wall Street Conservation Survives
ABSTRACT Academics have spent decades analysing the harms and failures of market and finance‐led biodiversity policy. Yet, even though ‘selling nature to save it’ looks less like the promised green capitalism and more like a decades‐long bake sale in that its efforts are small, piecemeal and rely on copious amounts of cheap capital, the approach ...

Does Board Gender Diversity Matter for Engagement in the Science‐Based Targets Initiative?
ABSTRACT This study investigates the impact of board gender diversity on corporate engagement in the Science‐Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Drawing from stakeholder and resource dependence theories, we hypothesize that increased female representation on boards strengthens a firm's adherence to scientifically validated climate targets.
