Monodromy action on unknotting tunnels in fiber surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The second author showed that a tunnel of tunnel number one, fibered link in S³ can be isotoped to lie as a properly embedded arc in the fiber surface of the link.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Simulation and Experimental Analysis of Multi-Chamber Arc-Quenching Arresters (MCAA) for 10 kV Transmission Lines

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Since conventional lightning protection measures do not effectively extinguish subsequent arcs of electrical frequency after the passage of lightning, it is impossible to prevent lightning-related accidents on the distribution lines.

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Exploring the Effect of Interface Contact States on Brush/Ring Current-Carrying Friction

open access: yesLubricants
A carbon brush/collector ring set will have phenomena such as firing and ablation during operation, which is due to the existence of various abnormal contact modes of the brush/ring during operation, thus changing the carbon brush/collector ring ...

Evaluation of the interruption capability of SF6 gas mixtures based on one-dimensional arc model

open access: yes电力工程技术, 2022
SF6 gas mixture is one of the popular SF6 alternatives. For the purpose of quantitatively evaluating the arc extinguishing performance of SF6 mixtures,one-dimensional arc decaying model and Boltzmann equation are combined to divide the whole arc ...

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Identifying Distinct Pre‐Eruptive Composition‐H2O‐Time Trends Using Plagioclase

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
Macrocrysts (large crystals) in magmas offer a premier record of pre‐eruptive magma storage conditions encoded in their chemistry and texture. Careful study of macrocryst zoning can deconvolve the conditions of crystal growth and the relative time a ...

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.
