Arc duration and other phenomena in an arc quenching circuit according to wiring Diagram (60.01)

1958
Fig. (60.01) shows a main circuit connected with a quenching circuit. The main circuit contains the battery with the emf E, the inductance L, the resistance R, and the contact. The quenching circuit, parallel with the contact, includes the capacitor C and the resistance r. Although one will strive to make this circuit inductionless a small inductance l

A method of measuring the integrated arc duration using a digital counter

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1971
This letter describes a simple but accurate method of measuring the integrated or the average duration of a series of arcs by a proper voltage discriminating gate circuit which was used in conjunction with a clock oscillator and a digital counter.

The Role of Carbonaceous Particles in Low Current Arc Duration Enhancment. II. Arcs Occurring on Approach of Electrodes

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 1976
Part per million concentrations of some organic vapors in telephone relay environments are known to produce carbonaceous particles on arcing contact surfaces. Enhanced arcing then occurs and the reliability and contact lifetime of the relays is impaired.

Widths of modern arc-trench gaps proportional to past duration of igneous activity in associated magmatic arcs

Journal of Geophysical Research, 1973
Arc-trench systems along convergent junctures between plates of lithosphere include subduction zones related to trenches and volcano-plutonic orogens built by the igneous activity of the magmatic arcs. Between trenches and arcs are elongate belts termed arc-trench gaps with transverse limits defined by the volcanic front of the arc on the inner side ...

Capacitive quenching when an arc with a very small duration or no are is drawn

1967
With a short circuit current that is smaller than the minimun cur rent, I m , of the arc, no arc is drawn. Nevertheless, a quench can be valuable because it can prevent a glow discharge from igniting and developing to transients of the kind described in § 57.
