Electric Arc Furnace Processes

1997
The electric arc furnace processing of oxide ceramics is a well-established and widely-used industrial technology. Raw materials are readily melted together by joule and radiant heating to form substantially large liquid volumes. These are refined if necessary with carbon and additions of metal scavenging agents such as iron, and the product is then ...

Electric Arc Behaviour in Steelmaking Arc Furnaces

DENKI-SEIKO[ELECTRIC FURNACE STEEL], 1967

Arc-Furnace Control by Regulex Exciters

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1943
FOR a number of years prior to the present urgency for the production of high-quality steel, the development in control methods for electric-arc furnaces remained substantially stationary in this country. These devices were in the general form of vibrating regulators or contact-making ammeters which rapidly connected the electrode motors to and ...

Fuel Arc Furnace—FAF

2017
Selection of the Quantum constructive scheme as a basis for a fuel arc furnace—FAF is justified. Main calculated parameters and performances of the FAF of 100 tons tapping weight equipped with the proposed systems for high-temperature scrap preheating and oxygen bath blowing at the slag-metal interface are given.

Electric Arc Furnaces

1989
The tapping of electric furnaces is a hot, physically demanding, and potentially dangerous job. Noise levels often exceed the OSHA limits. To improve the work environment as well as improve productivity, several electric furnaces in Japan worked together with the Tokyo Institute of Technology to develop remote controlled manipulators for tapping.

Large electric arc furnaces

JOM, 1966
There is considerably more that could be said about the furnace circuit. It has been the intention of this paper to touch on the aspects most vital at this present stage of development of large arc furnace circuits.

A Laboratory Arc-Melting Furnace

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1954
Using a glass resin kettle as enclosure, and an inverted-J electrode, a small arc-melting furnace was designed for conveniently melting metals under an inert atmosphere.

The 3-phase electric arc furnace

Electrical Engineering, 1933
The 3-phase electric arc furnace has established itself definitely as an important industrial unit in the production of ferrous materials. With the efficiency of the arc furnace being increased, and with the overall cost of installation and operation now being comparable with that of an equivalent open hearth, an even more extensive application is ...

Symmetry of Arc Furnace Operation

Steel in Translation, 2017
The electrical asymmetry in the operation of arc furnace with an asymmetric triangular configuration of the electrodes is noted. Experimental data from the DSP-100 furnace permit analysis of how the electrical parameters affect the arc characteristics.

Electric Arc Furnace Melting

2008
Abstract This article focuses on the construction, operation of electric arc furnaces (EAF), and their auxiliary equipment in the steel foundry industry. It provides information on the power supply of EAF and discusses the components of the EAF, including the roof, furnace shell, spout and tap hole, water-cooling system, preheat and ...
