MODELING PARAMETERS OF ARC OF ELECTRIC ARC FURNACE

open access: yesElectrical engineering & Electromechanics, 2015
Purpose. The aim is to build a mathematical model of the electric arc of arc furnace (EAF). The model should clearly show the relationship between the main parameters of the arc. These parameters determine the properties of the arc and the possibility of

Modeling Vacuum Arcs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We are developing a model of vacuum arcs. This model assumes that arcs develop as a result of mechanical failure of the surface due to Coulomb explosions, followed by ionization of fragments by field emission and the development of a small, dense plasma ...

Modeling Arcs [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2011
Although vacuum arcs were first identified over 110 years ago, they are not yet well understood. We have since developed a model of breakdown and gradient limits that tries to explain, in a self-consistent way: arc triggering, plasma initiation, plasma evolution, surface damage and gra- dient limits.

Arc Plasma Torch Modeling [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Spray Technology, 2009
Arc plasma torches are the primary components of various industrial thermal plasma processes involving plasma spraying, metal cutting and welding, thermal plasma CVD, metal melting and remelting, waste treatment and gas production. They are relatively simple devices whose operation implies intricate thermal, chemical, electrical, and fluid dynamics ...

Fast Arc-Annotated Subsequence Matching in Linear Space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
An arc-annotated string is a string of characters, called bases, augmented with a set of pairs, called arcs, each connecting two bases. Given arc-annotated strings $P$ and $Q$ the arc-preserving subsequence problem is to determine if $P$ can be obtained ...

A radial mass profile analysis of the lensing cluster MS2137-23 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We reanalyze the strong lens modeling of the cluster of galaxies MS2137-23 using a new data set obtained with the ESO VLT. We found the photometric redshifts of the two main arc systems are both at z=1.6. After subtraction of the central cD star light of

Parameter Determination Method of Cassie-Mayr Hybrid Arc Model Based on Magnetohydrodynamics Plasma Theory

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2022
This paper proposes an improved alternating current (AC) arc model based on the Cassie-Mayr hybrid model and magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) theory. The undetermined parameters of the traditional Cassie-Mayr arc model are mainly obtained by subjective methods

Across-arc geochemical variations in the Southern Volcanic Zone, Chile (34.5- 38.0°S): Constraints on Mantle Wedge and Input Compositions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Crustal assimilation (e.g. Hildreth and Moorbath, 1988) and/or subduction erosion (e.g. Stern, 1991; Kay et al., 2005) are believed to control the geochemical variations along the northern portion of the Chilean Southern Volcanic Zone.

Mechanism and experimental study of arc suppression by polyphase longitudinal airflow

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
An arc extinguishing lightning protection device with a multi-arc extinguishing chamber structure has been gradually applied to the overhead line lightning protection, but the process and key factors of the arc building of the internal multi-phase flow ...

Noodle model for scintillation arcs [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2019
I show that narrow, parallel strips of phase-changing material, or "noodles," generically produce parabolic structures in the delay-rate domain. Such structures are observed as "scintillation arcs" for many pulsars. The model assumes the strips have widths of a few Fresnel zones or less, and are much longer than they are wide.
