Effect of the Fe Content on the Oxide Film Composition and Corrosion Resistance of Inconel 625: An XPS and Cyclic Potentiodynamic Polarisation Study

open access: yesSurface and Interface Analysis, Volume 58, Issue 3, Page 151-163, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The present work focuses on investigating the effect of increasing Inconel 625 Fe content on the oxide film composition and corrosion behaviour through XPS and cyclic potentiodynamic polarisation (CPP) studies. Different proportions of ASTM A182 F22 steel and Inconel 625 were arc‐melted to achieve a range of Fe contents (2–15 wt.%) in the ...

Multifaceted Behavior and Functional Versatility of Ferritic Stainless Steels, Part I: Applications and Processing, a Review

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 97, Issue 3, Page 1201-1225, March 2026.
This review investigates the processing‐microstructure‐property relationships in ferritic stainless steels (FSSs). It highlights advances in deformation behavior, heat treatments, surface modifications, and alloying effects. Theoretical models, including Johnson‐Mehl‐Avrami‐Kolmogorov, Arrhenius, nucleation theory, and diffusion theories, are discussed

Minimization of Porosity in E11018‐G Low‐Alloyed Steel Processed by Laser Powder Directed Energy Deposition

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 97, Issue 3, Page 1369-1383, March 2026.
The processability of the E11018‐G by laser powder directed energy deposition (LP‐DED) is investigated. The effects of powder moisture, ambient humidity, and laser remelting on LP‐DED parts’ porosity are shown. A strong influence of the atomizing gas is observed.

Laser arc weak coupling achieves porosity free welding and stable droplet transfer for high nitrogen steel

open access: yesScientific Reports
To address the challenge of porosity suppression in laser-arc hybrid welding of high-nitrogen steel, a weakly coupled laser-arc welding method suitable for high-nitrogen steel is proposed.

Establishment on the chloride resistant clad rebar weld process in simulated seawater

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
To enhance the weld process of the new type of clad rebar construction in the marine environment, the weld process of the clad rebar was established. Four different weld processes were used to weld the clad rebars. The microscopy of the welded joints was

Power arc welder touch-started with consumable electrode [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Power arc welder formed as a hand-held welding gun touch-starts, retracts a consumable electrode to create the desired arc, and then commences feeding of the consumable electrode at the rate required to form the intended bead or spot.

Fatigue Lifetime Assessment of HFMI‐Treated Welded Joints According to the Peak Stress Method

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 3, Page 790-819, March 2026.
ABSTRACT High‐frequency mechanical impact (HFMI) is an effective post‐weld treatment that enhances fatigue strength by inducing compressive residual stresses, localized strain hardening, and increasing weld toe radii. The peak stress method (PSM) was recently extended to evaluate the fatigue strength of HFMI‐treated steel joints under uniaxial loading ...
