Electric welding by the carbon arc
Journal of the A.I.E.E., 1930This paper discusses the butt welding of steel sheets by the carbon arc process. It explains first that autogenous welding is divided into two main classes, viz., gas and electric; that electric arc welding is divided into two classes, viz., metallic and carbon arc. Gas and metallic arc welding in general require beveling of plates for butt welds while

Arc welding of grooved rails – manual metal arc welding versus flux cored arc welding
2012Experience collected by the members of the Chair for Railways during 15 years of the supervision of re/construction of tram tracks in the Croatian capital Zagreb and city of Osijek revealed that the largest percentage of local rail damage occurs at the welded rail joints.

Measurements of Welding Arcs and Plasma Arcs
1991Welding and plasma arcs are among the most powerful emitters of optical radiation. The temperature of welding and plasma arcs is extremely high and the ultraviolet output is therefore potentially hazardous. As is well known the visible radiation emitted by these arcs is blinding, and several cases of severe retinal burns are known to have caused ...

Control of arc-welding using arc-sensing during welding
2000This paper describes monitoring of arc welding during welding process. Emphasis is on gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Input and output welding variables are specified. Experiment results are related to monitoring of welding parameters (voltage, current) and estimation of stability of electric arc at welding.
