Measurement of physiological energetics (scope for growth) and chemical contaminants in mussels (Arca zebra) transplanted along a contamination gradient in Bermuda

Journal of Experimental Marine Biology and Ecology, 1990
Abstract Mussels (Arca zebra) were transplanted to two sites in Castle Harbour and five sites along a contamination gradient in Hamilton Harbour, Bermuda. After 11–12 days mussels were sampled for measurement of physiological responses (such as feeding rate, food absorption and respiration rate) and analysis of chemical contaminants in their body ...

Changes in the biochemical composition of a subtropical bivalve, Arca zebra, in response to contaminant gradients in Bermuda

Journal of Experimental Marine Biology and Ecology, 1990
Abstract The biochemical composition of a subtropical bivalve, the turkey-wing mussel Arca zebra , was examined in specimens deployed along two contaminant gradients (Castle Harbour and Hamilton Harbour) in Bermuda. Pooled homogenized samples of the mussel were analysed for protein, ash, total lipid and lipid-class composition.

PRODUCCIÓN ESPECÍFICA DE LA PEPITONA Arca zebra (Swainson, 1833) EN LA BAHÍA DE CHARAGATO, ISLA DE CUBAGUA, VENEZUELA

2015
Arca zebra is a major natural resource whose banks are in the northeastern region of the country, where the species is subjected to an artisanal extraction with little control. In order to improve the knowledge on the species, specific production, turnover rate and reproductive effort were evaluated in Charagato Bay, Cubagua during September 2008 ...
