Omitted Asymmetric Persistence and Conditional Heteroskedasticity [PDF]

open access: yes
We show that asymmetric persistence induces ARCH effects, but the LM-ARCH test has power against it. On the other hand, the test for asymmetric dynamics proposed by Koenker and Xiao (2004) has correct size under the presence of ARCH errors. These results

New Developments in the Field of Production and Application of Multi‐Material Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing Components: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The utilization of direct energy deposition (DED)‐arc additive manufacturing processes in industrial applications is increasing, and these processes have the potential for multi‐material applications. This work provides a overview of the state of research in DED‐arc made functional graded structures, to establish a link to potential industrial ...

Arches and Culture [PDF]

open access: yesNexus Network Journal, 2006
Technological innovation is the driving force of our civilization. Therefore, we assume all other civilizations would exploit a technological advantage to the same degree that we would. We forget, however, that technology is an aspect of culture, and as with any other aspect of culture, it may be more or less important to any given civilization.

Activity autocorrelation in financial markets. A comparative study between several models

open access: yes, 2003
We study the activity, i.e., the number of transactions per unit time, of financial markets. Using the diffusion entropy technique we show that the autocorrelation of the activity is caused by the presence of peaks whose time distances are distributed ...

In-Plane Stability of Circular Arch Under Uniform Vertical Load Based on the Asymptotic Method

open access: yesBuildings
Conventional analyses often simplify vertical loads as uniform radial loads while neglecting axial force effects in the buckling analyses of arches, leading to discrepancies between theoretical predictions and actual loading conditions.

Investigation of Iron‐Aluminide‐Like Phase Composition in Complex Concentrated Fe32Cu12Ni11Ti16Al29 Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work reveals the phase composition and quantitative morphology analysis of precipitation‐hardened Fe32Cu12Ni11Ti16Al29 complex‐concentrated alloy. The precipitates are shown to have a high coherency. Morphology transition between sphere, cuboidal, and elongated morphology is observed. Finally, the overaging behavior is captured using microhardness.

Reactive Interaction and Wetting of Fe‐ and Mn‐Containing, Secondary AlSi Alloys with Manganese Oxide Ceramic Filter Material for Fe Removal

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Fe‐ and Mn‐containing AlSi alloys undergo aluminothermic reaction with Mn oxide in sessile‐drop and crucible experiments forming poor‐wetting Al2O3 while Mn enriches in the alloy. Primary Fe‐containing particles are preferentially attached to the Mn oxide.
