Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Effect of cannula length on aortic arch flow: Protection of the atheromatous aortic arch

open access: yesThe Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1995
Atheromatous disease in the transverse aortic arch is associated with an increased incidence of perioperative stroke. In addition, tissue erosion in the aortic arch is caused by the high-velocity jet emerging from an aortic cannula during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), termed the "sandblast effect".

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Simple treatment of a complex malocclusion: a case report [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Orthodontics, 2012
Background and aim: Clinical signs of tooth-size- arch length discrepancy are crowding, impaction, and incisor proclination. The controversy persists over whether to increase the size of the arch by expansion or decrease the size of the teeth by ...

Study on effect of working face length on overburden caving form and force chain arch characteristics

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan, 2021
Using theoretical analysis combined with numerical simulation, the inclination composite force chain arch structure is proposed, and the characteristics of the force chain arch under the influence of surface length are analyzed. The research result shows

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...
