In this paper we propose an extension of the model of Liu, Coppersmith et al., in order to allow for arch formation. This extended model qualitatively captures interesting properties of granular materials due to fluctuations of stress paths, such as stress fluctuations and stick-slip motion.

This study presents a versatile approach to harnessing miscible aqueous domains, enabling liquid‐in‐liquid compartmentalization using a barrier formed in situ rather than bulk immiscibility. The barrier forms upon the complexation of multifunctional nanoparticles and ligands at the contact boundary of aqueous phases.

On the inconsistency of the MLE in certain heteroskedastic regression models [PDF]
This paper studies the possibility of inconsistency of the maximum likelihood estimators for certain heteroskedastic regression models. These include the Poisson regression model and the ARCH models.

Meta‐Rod Mechanical Metamaterials With Programmable Reconfiguration
Existing mechanical metamaterials achieve programmable large deformations in planar square or cubic configurations, restricted by required complex boundary conditions. This research proposes a 1D metamaterial, Meta‐rod, with linear, bending, twisting, area, and volume deformation modes.

Regime Switching GARCH : An Application to Dowjones Index Return [PDF]
Since firstly proposed by Engle (1982) and Bollerslev (1986), ARCH-GARCH models have been used to describe volatility behaviors of time series, especially in stock market analysis.

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.
