A Universal BRDF Archetype Database for Normalizing Directional Reflectance to Nadir BRDF Adjusted Reflectance

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Surface reflectance varies with changes in solar and viewing angles, exhibiting distinct anisotropic reflectance characteristics, which can be characterized using the bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF).

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Carnot and the Archetype of Waterfalls

open access: yesEntropy
Carnot treats Heat as a Force of Nature, with its typical fundamental characteristics of intensity and thermal tension (temperature and temperature difference), extension (amount of heat, i.e., caloric), and power. To suggest how the three aspects are related, he applies the imagery of waterfalls to causative thermal processes: heat powers motion in a ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Microfluidic electro‐viscoelastic manipulation of extracellular vesicles

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The electro‐viscoelastic manipulation as a potential method for separation of particles based on size. The particles introduced as a sheath flow migrate to the channel center under the influence of simultaneously applied electric field and pressure driven flow.
