Circle detection by arc-support line segments

2017 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2017
Circle detection is fundamental in both object detection and high accuracy localization in visual control systems. We propose a novel method for circle detection by analysing and refining arc-support line segments. The key idea is to use line segment detector to extract the arc-support line segments which are likely to make up the circle, instead of ...

Remote detection of arcing on geosynchronous satellites

Sensors and Systems for Space Applications XIII, 2020
Remote detection of spacecraft arcing is important for the satellite operators in order to properly respond for anomalies caused by spacecraft charging due to the space weather conditions. Satellites operating at geosynchronous orbit (GEO) are prone to spacecraft charging due to fluxes of high energy electrons onto and beneath their surfaces, usually ...

Arcing Persistency Measurement for IEC62606 Arc-Fault Detection Device Certification

2019 IEEE Symposium on Product Compliance Engineering (SPCE Austin), 2019
Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDD's) or Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters (AFCI's) are mandatory electrical protection devices in panel boards all over the world, to mitigate the risk of fire due to hazardous electrical arc faults. By its nature, the arc fault is an erratic phenomenon, with variable temporal persistency and variable ability to ignite a ...

Arc-Free PV Systems - Preventing and Detecting Arcs As a Whole

2011
This contribution shows a way to a significant increase of safety in PV plants. By combination of two long-term proven technologies – but restricted in USA respectively Europe - a system can be created avoiding and controlling arcs in an optimum way. Circuits for arc-detection, which are widely-used in the USA, are introduced to be used for the DC-side

On the Use of Arc Radiation to Detect the Quality of Gas Metal Arc Welds

Materials and Manufacturing Processes, 2011
Gas metal arc (GMA) welding has over the years grown both in stature and strength to become a widely used welding process in the industries related to manufacturing. With sustained and noticeable developments in the technologies related to welding a need to automatically detect and even control the quality of welding has become both essential and ...

Arc-Community Detection via Triangular Random Walks

2012 Eighth Latin American Web Congress, 2012
Community detection in social networks is a topic of central importance in modern graph mining, and the existence of overlapping communities has recently given rise to new interest in arc clustering. In this paper, we propose the notion of triangular random walk as a way to unveil arc-community structure in social graphs: a triangular walk is a random ...

Frequency phenomenon and algorithms for arc detection

2010 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2010
Successful detection of power line arcing requires various algorithms from frequency domain to time domain analysis. This paper explores frequency phenomenon that when analysed with a defined set of algorithms can distinguish between arcing noise and typical power line noise associated with distribution hardware and various noise-generating loads ...

Radiometric detection and analysis of arcing faults

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2015
A novel method for long-range detection and potential location of arcing faults on electrical distribution networks is described and investigated. When a network fault induces an electrical arc it is accompanied by the radiation of electromagnetic transients that can be detected remotely as a radio frequency signal.
