Real-Time Series Arc Fault Detection and Appliances Classification in AC Networks Based on Competing Convolutional Kernels

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society
This article presents a method to detect and classify series arc faults affecting domestic AC electrical circuits by the analysis of electric current time series data, based on the HYDRA (HYbrid Dictionary-Rocket Architecture) algorithm, a fast ...

Secondary Arc Extinction in Extra High Voltage Systems Using Grounding Switches

open access: yesDiyala Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2014
Long Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission systems tend to bring a pronounced state of secondary arcing. Therefore, an essential pre-requisite for single-phase-switching application, is the possibility and speed of secondary arc final extinction during ...

Demonstration of an All‐Optical AND Gate Mediated by Photochromic Molecules

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A logic AND gate that runs on photons is demonstrated. It relies on two spatially separated photochromic molecules that work in tandem. Abstract The realization of a photonic logic AND gate, i.e. a logic AND gate that runs on photons rather than electrons, and where all steps are controlled by light, is demonstrated. In a proof‐of‐principle experiment,

Novel Series Arc Fault Detector Using High-Frequency Coupling Analysis and Multi-Indicator Algorithm

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In the field of arc fault detection, it is universally acknowledged that it is very hard to judge whether there is an arc fault through signals of the main line when a masking load (such as air compressors, lamps with dimmers, and so on) is in parallel ...

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Liturgical pharmacology: Time of the question, complexity and ethics

open access: yesHTS Teologiese Studies/Theological Studies, 2016
Bernard Stiegler depicts technics as the human’s tertiary memory retention generating a pharmakon with both curative and malignant potential. He additionally rues the posthuman epoch’s depletion of a ‘time of the question’: revealed in the prevalent ...

Stochastic Model of Breakdown Nucleation under Intense Electric Fields

open access: yes, 2018
Plastic response due to dislocation activity under intense electric fields is proposed as a source of breakdown. A model is formulated based on stochastic multiplication and arrest under the stress generated by the field.

Nanoscale Mapping of Plasmonic Charge Transport in Nano‐Resonators Based on Resistive Switching Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this strategy, a conductive nano‐probe is employed to induce nanoscale phase transitions and map the nanoscale conductivity and trap density of GST films. By utilizing the contrasting properties of phase‐change states, nano‐resonators are fabricated that exhibit plasmonic conduction and dramatically different transport characteristics.
