Modeling of the Electric Arc Behavior of the Electric Arc Furnace

2013
During the electric arc furnace operation appear disturbances, which can affect the other equipments that are connected to the same power network. So it is necessary to develop models for the electric arc which characterizes the electric arc behavior in order to identify methods and solutions through which the disturbances that appear in the power ...

The electric arc as a circuit component

IECON 2015 - 41st Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2015
This paper presents a mathematical model which describes the behavior of the electric arc in power circuits. The arc is studied like a circuit component. Arc equations are analyzed for static and dynamic situations to define a small signal model. Simulation results and experimental results are given for common arc ignition cases.

Electric arc current control for an electric arc furnace based on fuzzy logic

2015 IEEE 10th Jubilee International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics, 2015
This paper presents a current control for a three-phase electric arc furnace. In order to do this, a model of the electric arc was used. Using this model, the waveforms for the arc current, arc voltage and voltage-current characteristic of the electric arc were illustrated for different arc lengths.

The Valve Effect of an Electric ARC and Problems in Controlling Electric-ARC Furnaces

Metallurgist, 2015
The reasons for the existence of constant components of current and voltage in electric-arc furnaces are examined. It is noted that the accuracy with which the constant component of arc voltage is evaluated is strongly affected by the method used to sample the voltage signal.

The Electric Arc

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1927
DEFINITION OF ARC. An arc is a discharge of electricity, between electrodes in a gas or vapor, which has a voltage drop at the cathode of the order of the minimum ionizing or minimum exciting potential of the gas or vapor. ARC CHARACTERISTICS. The relation of arcs to glow discharges and coronas is illustrated by discussion of ``generalized'' curve of ...

The Electric Arc

Physics Bulletin, 1960
By J. M. Somerville London : Methuen & Co. Ltd. Pp. ix + 150. Price 12s. 6d. The literature on arc discharges is notoriously scanty in spite of the fundamental and technical interest in such work. Apart from some excellent publications in German there are virtually no comprehensive publications on the subject.
