The Role of Neuropeptide Y in Dental Pulp: Balancing Neurogenic Inflammation and Pain Modulation

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, Volume 59, Issue 10, Page 2028-2045, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Dental pulp is a densely innervated, low‐compliance tissue in which neurogenic inflammation can rapidly escalate into oedema, raised intrapulpal pressure, microvascular compromise, and pain. While Substance P (SP) and Calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP) are well‐established drivers of pulp vasodilation, the Neuroopeptide Y (NPY ...

Developmental stage ordering yields greater cranial mineralization sequence resolution than embryo size or days since oviposition: A case study using the gekkotan Eublepharis macularius (Blyth, 1854)

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 249, Issue 4, Page 847-864, October 2026.
We employ a set of leopard gecko embryos for which size, day of development, and developmental stage are known to assess which timetable accords with the greatest resolution of cranial mineralization events. Developmental staging yielded the best outcome. Abstract Mineralization sequences of cranial elements (often referred to as ossification sequences)

Number of Teeth and Posterior Occlusal Pairs by Sociodemographic Factors in the Finnish Adult Population, Results From the Healthy Finland 2023 Study

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, Volume 53, Issue 10, Page 1923-1931, October 2026.
In Healthy Finland 2023‐study, edentulism prevalence was 4.2%, mean number of teeth 24.8, and POPs (posterior occlusal pairs) 6.5. POPs and number of teeth had likewise associations with sociodemographic background factors: older age, lower education, lower income, and being widowed were associated with lower number of teeth and POPs.

Insult to Injury: Population Impacts of Sublethal Entanglement and Vessel Strikes of Common Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) in Barataria Basin, Louisiana, 2011–2023

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, Volume 42, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Human interactions, specifically fishery entanglements (FI) and vessel strikes (VI), threaten marine mammals, including the Barataria Bay Estuarine System (BBE) Stock of common bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). We reviewed whole‐body photographs to estimate the prevalence of sublethal entanglement and vessel strike scars for 227 ...
