Das Bürzeldrüsensekret vom Graureiher(Ardea cinerea)

Journal für Ornithologie, 1974
The uropygial lipids and triglycerides of the subcutaneous fat of young herons are analysed. The uropygial lipids are shown to be normal waxes and triglycerides which contain mainly normal short chain fatty acids. — The fatty acids from the depot fat are highly unsaturated according to the well known fatty acid patterns of fish nourishment.

Disseminated Avian Mycobacteriosis in a Free-Living Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea)

Avian Diseases, 2013
Wild birds share with humans the capacity for moving fast over large distances. During migratory movements, birds carry pathogens that can be transmitted between species. One of these concerning pathogens is Mycobacterium spp. A necropsy was performed in a grey heron (Ardea cinerea) that had been medically treated for a polyarthritic process.
