An alternative approach to calculating Area-Under-the-Curve (AUC) in delay discounting research.
Journal of The Experimental Analysis of Behavior, 2016Applied to delay discounting data, Area-Under-the-Curve (AUC) provides an atheoretical index of the rate of delay discounting. The conventional method of calculating AUC, by summing the areas of the trapezoids formed by successive delay-indifference ...

The Area under the ROC Curve and Its Competitors
Medical Decision Making, 1991The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve is a popular measure of the power of a (two-disease) diagnostic test, but it is shown here to be an inconsistent criterion: tests of indistinguishable clinical impacts may have different areas. A class of diagnosticity measures (DMs) of proven optimality is proposed instead.

A Brief Treatise on the Area Under the Curve
2015This chapter briefly discusses the pharmacologic parameter, commonly referred to as the Area Under the Curve, that describes the distribution and elimination of drugs from the body.

Efficient evaluation of the area under the normal curve
Proceedings of the international conference on APL - APL '88, 1987The task of evaluating the cumulative distribution of a normally distributed random variable is considered. A brief introduction into this problem is given and several possible approximations are presented as APL functions. Many of these functions have been written in two versions. The first version is written in the original APL style.

The normal curve serves as a mystery for many students. Students are often shown examples of normally distributed data, in the form of a bell-shape. This curve is called “normal” or “symmetrical.” This normal distribution may show a mean other than 0.

Making the change to area under the curve–based vancomycin dosing
American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 2018Vancomycin, a glycopeptide antimicrobial, is commonly employed for empirical and definitive treatment of infections due to resistant gram-positive pathogens, notably methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

Bounds on the area under the ROC curve
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 1999Upper and lower bounds are derived for the area under the receiver-operating-characteristic (ROC) curve of binary hypothesis testing. These results are compared with the area-under-the-curve (AUC) approximation and the AUC lower bound recently reported by Barrett et al. [J. Opt. Soc. Am A15, 1520 (1998)].

A TECHNIQUE FOR MEASURING AREA UNDER A CURVE
Experimental Techniques, 1988A measure of the accuracy of the technique can be obtained by the following analysis of a graphical construction which was incorporated into Fig. 1. The portion AB of the load vs. displacement plot was constructed graphically as exactly one-sixth of a circle with the radius equal to P max and with center on the P = 0 line.
