Recently, in the province of Trapani (Western Sicily), some overwintering specimens of the argasid tick Argas (Persicargas) persicus (Oken, 1818) were observed and collected. Morphological and genetic analysis were utilized in order to reach a definitive

Seabird health is linked to their marine and terrestrial environments, but health–environment relationships are rarely described. Parasites are common among seabird colonies, however reductions to seabird health may occur if the delicate parasite–host relationship is imbalanced.

We summarize the recent progress in understanding defense mechanisms in specific tissues or sites that are encountered by arboviruses and discuss their possible roles in virus infection or transmission. Abstract Ticks can transmit many pathogens, including arboviruses, to their vertebrate hosts.

We developed a rapid, effective technique for surveying for Ornithodoros turicata, a vector of African swine fever virus using gopher tortoise burrows. When working under a time constraint during tick collection, vacuuming substrate from the top meter of the burrow followed by sifting for soft ticks outperformed CO2 traps.

Ticks, particularly Ixodes ricinus, are significant vectors of pathogens such as Borrelia spp. and tick‐borne encephalitis virus (TBEV), which cause Lyme borreliosis (LB) and tick‐borne encephalitis (TBE), respectively. Understanding how these pathogens interact within the tick microbiome is essential for developing vector control strategies.

Global distribution of ticks and their associated tick‐borne pathogens (TBPs) presents substantial health concerns for both humans and animals. The present study aimed to investigate the distribution, morpho‐molecular identification, and associated TBPs of diverse tick species collected from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces of Pakistan ...

Effects of Boophilus Microplus Larval Infestation on Kedah - Kelantan Cattle and Their Bos Taurus Crosses [PDF]
Tick resistance and the effects of dexamethasone and anti-histamine were investigated in four Kedah-Kelantan (KKKK), four FI Kedah-Kelantan X Friesian (KKFF), and four 25% Kedah-Kelantan X 75% Frieisian (KFFF) using experimental tick infestations ...
