The distribution and phenological data of the Cephidae and Argidae from the Netherlands are given. Janus compressus (Fabricius, 1793) is for the first time reported from The Netherlands. Important morphological characters are illustrated and keys to the Dutch species are given. Short notes on synonymy, size and biology are added.
