Inter‐platform ecosystems

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary We extend ecosystem theory to cases in which platforms are complementors to each other: inter‐platform ecosystems. Analyzing web traffic data on 241 European platforms, we identify and characterize demand‐side inter‐platform ecosystems, and propose a theory of why they emerge.

A framework for the ethical use of animal‐borne devices in post‐release monitoring following rehabilitation

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Rehabilitation and release contribute to conservation efforts for threatened species. Ensuring that these efforts are effective requires a good understanding of the factors which determine survival and integration of released animals into wild populations.

Dusky grouse seasonal resource selection in the Great Basin isolated mountain ranges of Nevada, USA

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Dusky grouse Dendragapus obscurus are a montane forest grouse species with a paucity of information regarding their temporal and spatial resource use during critical times of high mortality and reproductive output. This lack of vital data may leave dusky grouse at risk of sub‐optimal management in many areas of their distribution, especially in the ...

Effect of Soybean Meal on Nutritional Content, Fermentation Profile, and Bacterial Community Structure of Napier Grass Silage

open access: yesAgronomy
This study investigated the effects of soybean meal on fermentation characteristics, nutritional composition, bacterial community, and functional metabolic prediction in Napier grass silage. Napier grass was treated with soybean meal at 0% (CK), 10% (SA),

Micro‐habitat selection by boreal woodland caribou improves access to food

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Bio‐logging sensors attached to radiotelemetry receivers have great potential to transform our understanding of the ecological, physiological, and energetic constraints that shape patterns of wildlife movement under field conditions. We used video camera collars to assess microhabitat selectivity by woodland caribou Rangifer tarandus in boreal forests ...

Lipidomics Reveals Dietary Alpha Linolenic Acid Facilitates Metabolism Related to Division of Labor in Honeybee Workers

open access: yesAgriculture
The division of labor among honeybee workers contributes to efficient pollination activities. Lipids play a crucial role in behavioral regulation, with pollen serving as a primary source of these lipids. However, the regulatory effect of pollen lipids on

Nesting ecology of an ice‐associated seabird, Kittlitz's murrelet, at the northern edge of its range

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, EarlyView.
We studied the Kittlitz's murrelet, an ice‐associated seabird of conservation concern, at the northern edge of its range. Over a 2‐year period, we estimated nest density and success at 2 sites, captured and telemetered nesting murrelets, and tested the use of a thermal camera to improve nest detection.
