Half-Lives of Argon-37, Argon-39, and Argon-42
Science, 1965The half-lives of three argon isotopes have been carefully determined, with the following results: Ar 37 , 35.1 ± 0.1 days; Ar 39 , 269 ± 3 years; Ar 42 , 32.9 ± 1.1 years. By combining the Ar 42 value with earlier data, a cross section of 0.5 ±

Mobility of Argon ions in argon
Physics Letters A, 1967Abstract The mobility values of argon ions in argon have been measured using a measuring technique which permits simultaneous measurement of the drift velocity of ions together with their identification by means of a quadrupole mass spectrometer. The three ions present in argon have been identified as A + , A + 2 , A ++ and their mobilities are ...

Radially resolved rotational temperatures in nitrogen-argon, oxygen-argon, air-argon and argon ICPs
Spectrochimica Acta Part B: Atomic Spectroscopy, 1988Abstract Radially resolved rotational temperatures of a 2-kW ICP operated at atmospheric pressure with Ar, N 2 , O 2 and air as outer gases were determined using N 2 + and OH as thermometric species. The temperatures, measured 7 mm over the load coil, varied between 4000 and 7000 K. The reliability of these measurements is discussed.

Potassium-argon and argon-argon dating
1997Potassium (Latin kalium from the Arabic gali meaning alkali) is an element with relative atomic mass of 39.0983 and atomic number 19. A silvery white and soft, very reactive alkali metal, it resembles Na. Its relative density is 0.86, its melting point is 63.5°C and its boiling point is 770°C.

We developed an endolaser probe that is capable of delivering argon laser light for photocoagulation of retinal breaks or vascular fronds. Energy is transmitted through a fiberoptic cord from a console outside of the surgical area to an endolaser probe inside the operating suite. The probe can be fired into fluid- or gas-filled media.

Argon–argon dating is a radioisotopic method based on the natural, spontaneous radioactive decay of an isotope of potassium, 40K, at a known rate to produce an isotope of argon, 40Ar. This method is one of the most versatile, precise and accurate of all radioisotopic dating tools applied to volcanic materials.

Thermal conductivity of mixtures of argon‐helium, argon‐nitrogen, and argon‐neon
AIChE Journal, 1971AbstractA secondary concentric cylinders cell was used to measure the thermal conductivity of binary mixtures of argon‐nitrogen, argon‐helium, and argon‐neon approximately 20, 40, 60, and 80 vol. % at 75°C, and pressures to 2,800 atm. Measurements were made also on the pure gases argon and nitrogen.

Transport coefficients of argon, nitrogen, oxygen, argon-nitrogen, and argon-oxygen plasmas
Plasma Chemistry and Plasma Processing, 1994Calculated values of the viscosity, thermal conductivity, and electrical conductivity of argon, nitrogen, and oxygen plasmas, and mixtures of argon anti nitrogen and of argon anti oxygen, are presented. In addition, combined ordinary, pressure, and thermal diffusion coefficients are given for the gas mixtures.

Potassium-Argon/Argon-Argon Dating Methods
1997During the latter half of this century anthropological surveys in East Africa have made significant contributions to understanding how the human species has evolved. In the past two decades, particularly, discoveries of our fossil ancestors have been made in unprecedented numbers and diversity.
