Abstract Premise Insect herbivory is a major biotic factor shaping plant populations and driving the evolution of defensive traits. Polyploidy (whole‐genome duplication) often induces substantial phenotypic and genotypic changes that may affect species interactions, including herbivory.

Complex assessing of aridity in Ukraine
Introduction. The aridity is an important part of the climate characterization of a territory. Over the past 100 years, aridity indices have been used to assess it. The purpose of article is to characterize the patterns of the spatial distribution and

Shaped by context: Evolutionary trajectories of desiccation tolerance in land plants
Abstract Desiccation tolerance (DT), the ability to survive near‐complete cellular dehydration, is widespread in diaspores but rare in the vegetative tissues of land plants. The patchy and punctuated phylogenetic distribution of vegetative desiccation tolerance (VDT) suggests that the trait is both ancient and recurrent, yet the evolutionary ...

Abstract Premise As the sister clade to angiosperms, extant gymnosperms are crucial for reconstructing ancestral gene regulatory networks in seed plants. This highlights the need for model systems representing each of their distinct lineages. However, tools to quickly and effectively investigate gene function in gymnosperms are still limited due to the

Spatial and temporal variability of the Aridity Index in Greece
Abstract The objective of this paper is to study the spatial and temporal variability of the Aridity Index (AI) in Greece, per decade, during the 50-year period (1951–2000). Besides, the projected changes in ensemble mean AI between the period 1961–1990 (reference period) and the periods 2021–2050 (near future) and 2071–2100 (far future) along with ...

Abstract Premise Plants are frequently exposed to combinations of abiotic and biotic stresses that pose a greater threat to yield and productivity than individual stresses. However, knowledge of the impact of many stress combinations in numerous plants is limited due to the lack of experimental data, which could take decades to generate.

Abstract Dental microwear texture analysis (DMTA) is widely applied for inferring diet in vertebrates. Besides diet and ingesta properties, factors like wear stage and bite force may affect microwear formation, potentially leading to tooth position‐specific microwear patterns.

Studies on the incidence of droughts through seasonal aridity index
An attempt has been made in the present study to evolve the aridity index (lsa) for the southwest monsoon season through water balance concept. Madras and Masulipatnam have been selected to study the occurrence of droughts during the period 1901-1975. A scheme is suggested for drought categorization.

Abstract Analysis of the variation in the bony structures of the inner and middle ear provides critical insights into functional morphology, as well as adaptive morphology across primates. In this study, we investigated whether ear morphology patterns are related to the ecological characteristics of species and their habitats to test two acoustic ...
