Picking winners: Diversification through portfolio optimization

open access: yesProduction and Operations Management, Volume 32, Issue 9, Page 2864-2884, September 2023., 2023
Abstract We develop a general framework for selecting a small pool of candidate solutions to maximize the chances that one will be optimal for a combinatorial optimization problem, under a linear and additive random payoff function. We formulate this problem using a two‐stage distributionally robust model, with a mixed 0–1 semidefinite program.

Tree identity and canopy openness mediate oil palm biodiversity enrichment effects on insect herbivory and pollination

open access: yesEcological Applications, Volume 33, Issue 5, July 2023., 2023
Abstract As the extent of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) cultivation has expanded at the expense of tropical rainforests, enriching conventional large‐scale oil palm plantations with native trees has been proposed as a strategy for restoring biodiversity and ecosystem function.

Dietary Supplementation with the Probiotic SF68 Reinforces Intestinal Epithelial Barrier in Obese Mice by Improving Butyrate Bioavailability

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 67, Issue 13, July 2023., 2023
Modifications in short‐chain fatty acids are among the factors altering the intestinal epithelial barrier integrity and eliciting the onset of a meta‐inflammation observed in obesity. The study evaluates the efficacy of Enterococcus faecium (SF68) on intestinal inflammation and gut barrier alterations in a model of diet‐induced obesity. Supplementation

Efficacy and safety of S‐flurbiprofen plaster in knee osteoarthritis patients: A 2‐week randomized controlled Phase III clinical trial compared to diclofenac gel

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rheumatic Diseases, Volume 25, Issue 5, Page 563-570, May 2022., 2022
Abstract Aim S‐flurbiprofen plaster (SFPP) is a novel topical nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drug (NSAID) patch. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of SFPP in knee osteoarthritis (OA) patients compared to diclofenac gel. Methods This study was a multicenter, randomized, active‐controlled, open‐label, non‐inferiority phase III trial ...

Thermodynamic approach to estimating reactions and stoichiometric coefficients of anaerobic glucose and hydrogen utilization

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 3, Issue 6, June 2021., 2021
Glucose utilization always occurs in the system, and the syntrophic correlation among butyrate, propionate, and hydrogen utilizations run well with propionate utilization following the alternative pathway that yields lower hydrogen. The approach applied in this research significantly reduces the stoichiometric coefficients that must be predicted in ...

Performance of RegCM4 for Dynamically Downscaling of El Nino/La Nina Events During Southwest Monsoon Over India and Its Regions

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2021., 2021
Abstract This study presents the interannual variation in the summer monsoon rainfall during the El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phases, that is, El Nino and La Nina throughout the Indian subcontinent and its subregions during 1986–2010. The analysis includes the performance assessments of the regional climate model (RegCM4) in simulating Indian ...

Update of the risk assessment of hexabromocyclododecanes (HBCDDs) in food

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 19, Issue 3, March 2021., 2021
Abstract The European Commission asked EFSA to update its 2011 risk assessment on hexabromocyclododecanes (HBCDDs) in food. HBCDDs, predominantly mixtures of the stereoisomers α‐, β‐ and γ‐HBCDD, were widely used additive flame retardants. Concern has been raised because of the occurrence of HBCDDs in the environment, food and in humans.

Lazier Than Lazy Greedy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Is it possible to maximize a monotone submodular function faster than the widely used lazy greedy algorithm (also known as accelerated greedy), both in theory and practice?

Complete mitochondrial genome of chestnut-fronted macaw (Ara severus, Psittaciformes)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2017
Six genera from Arini tribe form a morphologically diverse group named macaws, which differ from other Arini in the presence of bare facial area. Macaws are further distinguished by the bare face pattern, plumage colouration and body size.

Evaluasi Kinerja Jaringan DMVPN Menggunakan Routing Protocol RIPv2, OSPF, EIGRP dengan BGP

open access: yesJISKA (Jurnal Informatika Sunan Kalijaga), 2018
Data communication has become a major requirement for companies and governmental institutions. Communication is not only limited to one particular local area but covers other areas so as to form a wide network (WAN).
