The arithmetic-geometric-harmonic-mean and related matrix inequalities
Recently, Sagae and Tanabe defined a geometric mean of positive definite matrices and proved the harmonic-geometric-arithmetic- mean inequality. Here, we give a reversal of these results.

This work demonstrates a novel cascade photocatalysis concept using Fe single‐atom catalysts (Fe@C3N4 SAC) to directly upcycle plastics (PET, PP, PE, PVC) into valuable acetic acid at ambient conditions. Inspired by microbial degradation, the bifunctional cascade photocatalyst combines Fenton‐like oxidation and CO2 photoreduction, as validated by ...

3D investigation and modeling of the geometric effects on porosity in packed beds
Abstract In porous beds, physical boundaries restrict particle arrangement, leading to inhomogeneous porosity. This paper reports on the porosity profiles that are the result of geometric effects on monodisperse packed beds in cylindrical and cubic arrangements. Special focus is given to the influence of edges and corners in cubic geometries.

A new class of copulas with tail dependence and a generalized tail dependence estimator [PDF]
We present a new family of copulas (generalized mean copulas) which is positive comprehensive and allows for upper tail dependence. It includes the Spearman copula and a specific Fréchet copula as special cases.

Elliptic filter design using arithmetic-geometric mean
A simple direct algorithm for computation of elliptic functions for use in designing elliptic filters is offered. Compromise approximations to common filter specifications are not required. Precision is limited only by the accuracy of the processor and its square root, sine and arcsine routines.

Flexible Memory: Progress, Challenges, and Opportunities
Flexible memory technology is crucial for flexible electronics integration. This review covers its historical evolution, evaluates rigid systems, proposes a flexible memory framework based on multiple mechanisms, stresses material design's role, presents a coupling model for performance optimization, and points out future directions.

This article investigates how persistent homology, persistent Laplacians, and persistent commutative algebra reveal complementary geometric, topological, and algebraic invariants or signatures of real‐world data. By analyzing shapes, synthetic complexes, fullerenes, and biomolecules, the article shows how these mathematical frameworks enhance ...

Proposal and validation of geostatistical-based metrics to quantify within-field variability [PDF]
Metrics are fundamental to quantify and classify the spatial dependence of soil and agricultural attributes. This study aimed to propose and validate metrics based on two distinct approaches, one additive, which considers the arithmetic mean of the ...

Comparison of Harmonic, Geometric and Arithmetic means for change detection in SAR time series [PDF]
International audienceThe amplitude distribution in a SAR image can present a heavy tail. Indeed, very high-valued outliers can be observed. In this paper, we propose the usage of the Harmonic, Geometric and Arithmetic temporal means for amplitude ...
