Holocene variability of surface and seep water advection to the Arctic Ocean - a multiproxy perspective from the aastern Fram Strait [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Micropaleontological, geochemical, and sedimentological parameters of two sediment cores from the eastern Fram Strait have been studied to reconstruct the variability of surface and deep water advection and related fluctuations of the marginal ice zone ...

Marine‐derived nutrients shape the functional composition of High Arctic plant communities

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 6, Page 1606-1621, June 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Low temperatures and nutrient limitation have shaped Arctic plant communities, which are now affected by biome‐wise changes in both climate and nutrient cycling. Rising temperatures are favouring taller plant species with more resource‐acquisitive traits across the ...

The Cumulative Effect of Various Tillage Systems and Stubble Management on the Biological and Chemical Properties of Soil in Winter Wheat Monoculture

open access: yesAgronomy, 2021
Agricultural practices, including tillage systems and postharvest residue management, strongly affect a wide range of soil properties. Depending on the degree of soil inversion, both negative and beneficial changes of its structure, chemical composition,

Testing the deep‐sea glacial disturbance hypothesis as a cause of low, present‐day Norwegian Sea diversity and resulting steep latitudinal diversity gradient, using fossil records

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Biogeography, Volume 33, Issue 7, July 2024.
Abstract Aim Within the intensively‐studied, well‐documented latitudinal diversity gradient, the deep‐sea biodiversity of the present‐day Norwegian Sea stands out with its notably low diversity, constituting a steep latitudinal diversity gradient in the North Atlantic. The reason behind this has long been a topic of debate and speculation.

Deep Mantle Component and Continental Crust Remobilization in the Source of Vesteris Seamount, East Greenland Margin

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 25, Issue 1, January 2024.
Abstract Vesteris Seamount is a large Quaternary intraplate submarine volcano in the SW Greenland Sea, about 1,000 km NE of Iceland and 300 km NW of the Mohn's spreading ridge, whose mode of formation remains unsolved. We present geochemical data for new samples dredged from the Vesteris edifice, including major, trace elements and Sr‐Nd‐Pb‐Hf isotopes.

Analysis of the scintillation mechanism in a pressurized 4He fast neutron detector using pulse shape fitting

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2015
An empirical investigation of the scintillation mechanism in a pressurized 4He gas fast neutron detector was conducted using pulse shape fitting. Scintillation signals from neutron interactions were measured and averaged to produce a single generic ...

Den Norden lesen: Erinnerungen, Wahrnehmungen und Bedeutungen im interdisziplinären Dialog

open access: yesNordlit: Tidsskrift i litteratur og kultur, 2020

Nansen i norsk polartradisjon

open access: yesNordlit: Tidsskrift i litteratur og kultur, 2014
Fridtjof Nansen’s expeditions introduced polar exploration in Norway. And his stories from the North formed our image of the Arctic. For later generations of Norwegian explorers Nansen surely has been a great inspiration. Also within polar science Nansen
