An Exploratory Study on Subject-Specific Throwing Arm Strength Responses to a Novel Intra-Abdominal Pressure Belt Worn by Collegiate Baseball Pitchers

open access: yesSports
Throwing arm injuries in baseball are related to throwing arm weakness. This case study investigated potential arm strength improvements owed to wearing a specialized intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) to prime arm strength prior to simulated competition ...

Miniaturized Magnetic Tip Design for Endoluminal Vine Robot Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A magnetic tip mount is designed for a miniaturized 7 mm soft‐growing vine robot to enable wireless magnetic steering and onboard imaging, while preserving a 3 mm working channel. The internal–external ring magnets design balances magnetic attachment with low eversion pressure. Experiments demonstrate ±90° steering, 34 mm bending radius, and successful

Design and Modeling of a High‐Displacement, Skin‐Integrated Flexible Electromagnetic Actuator for Haptic Interfaces in Virtual Reality

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A flexible, skin‐integrated electromagnetic actuator is developed for wearable virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR) haptic systems. A tunable design model enables control over displacement and resonance frequency. The system is validated through a custom VR application with a 6 × 4 actuator array, demonstrating real‐time, spatially targeted tactile ...

Hamstring Injuries in MLB Are Not Lateralized to the Throwing Arm or Inside Leg: An Analysis of 1435 In-Game Injuries (2011–2017)

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Hamstring injuries in professional baseball remain incompletely understood related to laterality in being either ipsilateral or contralateral to the throwing arm. General and specific injury comparisons were investigated with respect to independent lower-

Intelligent Sky Guardians (InSkyGuard): An Aerial Robotic Swarm for Autonomous Detection and Entrapment of Rogue Multirotors

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Intelligent Sky Guardians (InSkyGuard) is introduced as a four‐drone swarm that autonomously detects, tracks, and safely captures rogue drones using a coordinated net system. Computer vision and leader–follower control architecture enable synchronized enclosure, while integrated failsafes enhance system reliability. Validated through closed‐environment

Phosphorylation‐Facilitated CKB Lactylation At K11 By GCN5 Enhances Creatine Kinase Activity and Mitigates Neuronal Damage After Cerebral Ischemia‐Reperfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers hierarchical coordination between K11 lactylation and S199 phosphorylation of CKB in cerebral ischemia‐reperfusion injury. Such dual modifications potentiate CKB enzymatic function, remodel energy metabolism, alleviate oxidative stress and neuronal damage, and represent a viable therapeutic target for stroke treatment.

Mr BMT Achieves Systemic Macrophage Replacement With Preservation of Tissue Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microglia replacement by bone marrow transplantation (Mr BMT) enables systemic replacement of tissue‐resident macrophages. Despite persistent macrophage and tissue remodeling across multiple organs, core biological functions and innate immune responses remain preserved, supporting long‐term maintenance of organismal homeostasis and the therapeutic ...
