The circadian rhythm: A key variable in aging?

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 23, Issue 11, November 2024.
In this study, general age‐related transcriptional trajectories in seven organs were investigated over the lifespan of mice. Since both sexes and two strains were used equally, biases in this regard are diminished. Twenty replicas per time provide a deeper insight than usual.

Sex Differences in Doxorubicin‐Induced Cardiotoxicity: Insights from Transcriptome Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, Volume 7, Issue 9, September 2024.
Uncovering the molecular mechanisms of sex difference in DOX (doxorubicin)‐induced cardiotoxicity is important for DOX's application in male and female patients with cancer. The results of this study show that after DOX treatment, males and females have significantly different patterns of differentially expressed gene.

Dysregulation of circadian clock gene expression patterns in a treatment‐resistant animal model of depression

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 168, Issue 9, Page 1826-1841, September 2024.
Major depressive disorder is commonly accompanied by circadian rhythm (CR) disturbances in the form of sleep pattern and hormonal rhythm disruption. These CR disturbances have been linked to alterations in the circadian expression patterns of circadian clock genes (ccgs) in various tissues, including the brain. Here, we investigate the dysregulation of

Intestinal microbiota by angiotensin receptor blocker therapy exerts protective effects against hypertensive damages

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 3, Issue 4, August 2024.
16S rRNA sequencing, liquid chromatography‐tandem mass spectrometry, RNA sequencing and immunofluorescence staining were combined to assess the role of ARB‐modified gut microbes. ARB‐modified gut microbiota exert protective roles in hypertension, vascular remodeling and injury, metabolic abnormality and intestinal dysfunctions, suggesting a pivotal ...

Negative Example Aided Transcription Factor Binding Site Search [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
Computational approaches to transcription factor binding site identification have been actively researched for the past decade. Negative examples have long been utilized in de novo motif discovery and have been shown useful in transcription factor binding site search as well.

Transcription-driven genome organization: a model for chromosome structure and the regulation of gene expression tested through simulations [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Res. 46, 9895 (2018), 2020
Current models for the folding of the human genome see a hierarchy stretching down from chromosome territories, through A/B compartments and TADs (topologically-associating domains), to contact domains stabilized by cohesin and CTCF. However, molecular mechanisms underlying this folding, and the way folding affects transcriptional activity, remain ...

The clock protein period 2 synchronizes mitotic expansion and decidual transformation of human endometrial stromal cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Implantation requires coordinated interactions between the conceptus and surrounding decidual cells, but the involvement of clock genes in this process is incompletely understood.

Polymorphisms in the circadian expressed genes PER3 and ARNTL2 are associated with diurnal preference and GNβ3 with sleep measures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Sleep and circadian rhythms are intrinsically linked, with several sleep traits, including sleep timing and duration, influenced by both sleep homeostasis and the circadian phase.

A Computational Analysis of Alternative Splicing across Mammalian Tissues Reveals Circadian and Ultradian Rhythms in Splicing Events [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Mounting evidence points to a role of the circadian clock in the temporal regulation of post-transcriptional processes in mammals, including alternative splicing (AS).
