L-Asparaginase Production by Erwinia aroideae [PDF]
Maximum yields of 1,250 IU (international unit)/g (dry weight of cells) of L-asparaginase were obtained in 8 hr from Erwinia aroideae NRRL B-138. Partial purification and concentration of the extracted L-asparaginase yielded a preparation with an activity of 275 IU/ml. Only one L-asparaginase

L-Asparaginase Synthesis by Erwinia aroideae [PDF]
Maximum L-asparaginase activity was obtained when 1.0% lactose and 1.5% yeast extract were supplied as carbon and nitrogen sources, respectively. Glucose inhibited the enzyme formation. The diauxie phenomenon was observed with Erwinia aroideae NRRL B-138 grown in a medium containing glucose ...

Growth and Yield of Taro (Colocasia esculenta (L) Schott.) as Affected by Planting Distance
Taro, Colocasia esculenta (L) Schott., is a staple food for many people in Africa. Despite the numerous importance of the crop, it still remains an underutilized crop in Ghana with little information on many aspects of the crop, especially agronomic practices. This experiment was conducted to identify the effect of planting distance on growth and yield

The phylogenetic position of Aglaodorum Schott (Araceae – Aroideae – Aglaonemateae) [PDF]
Analysis of chloroplast DNA sequences (trnL intron and trnLtrnF intergenic spacer) of the helophytic colony-forming Aglaodorum griffithii (Schott) Schott and other representative species of Araceae supported its placement within Aglaonema Schott. It is therefore proposed that Aglaodorum Schott should be recognised as a generic synonym of Aglaonema.

The Virulence of Biochemical Mutants of Erwinia aroideae for Varieties of Radish and Turnip [PDF]
SUMMARY: Biochemical mutants of Erwinia aroideae displayed a pattern of virulence and avirulence for varieties of radish and turnip similar to the pattern previously reported for different host species. Three types of host response were noted when slices of the fleshy storage organs were inoculated: uniformly resistant, uniformly susceptible, and a ...
