Potential contribution of floral thermogenesis to cold adaptation, distribution pattern, and population structure of thermogenic and non/slightly thermogenic Symplocarpus species. [PDF]
Floral thermogenesis is an interesting and important field in evolutionary biology and plant ecology. This is the first study to compare thermogenic and non‐thermogenic plants and explain floral thermogenesis by evolutionary ecology through ecological niche modeling and phylogeographic analysis of chloroplast and genome‐wide single nucleotide ...

Enzymatic synthesis of phenoxymethylpenicillin using Erwinia aroideae enzyme. [PDF]
Enzymatic synthesis of phenoxymethylpenicillin from 6-aminopenicillanic acid and phenoxyacetic acid methyl ester was attempted by using partially purified alpha-acylamino-beta-lactam acylhydrolase I (ALAHase I) enzyme from Erwinia aroideae NRRL B-138.

Purification and some properties of glycerol dehydrogenase from Erwinia aroideae. [PDF]
Glycerol dehydrogenase was purified from Erwinia aroideae IFO 3830 by precipitation of acetone and ammonium sulfate, and chromatographies on diethylaminoethyl (DEAE)-cellulose, Sephadex G-200 and DEAE-Sephadex A-50. The purified enzyme was demonstrated to be homogeneous by disc electrophoresis.

Patterns and drivers of heat production in the plant genus Amorphophallus
SUMMARY Thermogenesis – the ability to generate metabolic heat – is much more common in animals than in plants, but it has been documented in several plant families, most prominently the Araceae. Metabolic heat is produced in floral organs during the flowering time (anthesis), with the hypothesised primary functions being to increase scent ...

A phylogenomic study of Amorphophallus from plastid DNA revealed a new scenario and timeline for the evolution of the main clades, consistent with their morphological characteristics, past climate dynamics, and long‐distance dispersal events across the genus. Abstract Encompassing ca.

Climatic and biogeographical drivers of functional diversity in the flora of the Canary Islands
Abstract Aim Functional traits can help us to elucidate biogeographical and ecological processes driving assemblage structure. We analysed the functional diversity of plant species of different evolutionary origins across an island archipelago, along environmental gradients and across geological age, to assess functional aspects of island ...
