Aromatic–aromatic interactions in and around α-helices
Protein Engineering, Design and Selection, 2002To understand the role of aromatic-aromatic interactions in imparting specificity to the folding process, the geometries of four aromatic residues with different sequence spacing, located in alpha-helices or five residues from helical ends, interacting with each other have been elucidated.

“Carbo-aromaticity” and novel carbo-aromatic compounds
Chemical Society Reviews, 2015Recent advances in experimental and theoretical studies ofcarbo-benzene derivatives, along with the proposition of a generalization of the definition of aromaticity to the two-membered π-rings of triple bonds, suggest relevance for the notion of “carbo-aromaticity”.

Aromaticity and Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution
1977The meaning of the word aromaticity has evolved as understanding of the reason for the special properties of benzene and other aromatic molecules has deepened. Originally, aromaticity was associated with a special chemical reactivity.1 The aromatic hydrocarbons were considered to be those unsaturated systems that underwent substitution reactions in ...

An Insight into the Local Aromaticities of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Fullerenes
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2003AbstractIn this work we quantify the local aromaticity of six‐membered rings in a series of planar and bowl‐shaped polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and fullerenes. The evaluation of local aromaticity has been carried out through the use of structurally (HOMA) and magnetically (NICS) based measures, as well as by the use of a new electronically ...

Aromatic–Aromatic Interactions Database, A2ID: An analysis of aromatic π-networks in proteins
International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2011The geometrical arrangement of the aromatic rings of phenylalanine, tyrosine, tryptophan and histidine has been analyzed at a database level using the X-ray crystal structure of proteins from PDB in order to find out the aromatic-aromatic (π-π) networks in proteins and to understand how these aromatic rings are connected with each-other in a specific π-

The Mannich Reaction Between Aromatic Ketones, Aromatic Aldehydes and Aromatic Amines
Synthesis, 1991The acid-catalyzed Mannich reaction of acetophenones with benzaldehyde derivatives and aromatic amines gives 1,3-diaryl-3-(arylamino)propanones in high ...

Aromatic Pathways in Carbathiaporphyrins
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2015Magnetically induced current densities and current pathways have been calculated for carbaporphyrins and carbathiaporphyrins using the gauge including magnetically induced current (GIMIC) method. The aromatic character and current pathways are obtained from the calculated current density susceptibilities. The current-density calculations show that five

Nucleophilic aromatic substitution on aromatic aldimines
Tetrahedron Letters, 1993Abstract Ortho-methoxy-substituted benzaldimines derived from 3-amino-2,4-dimethylpentane undergo efficient nucleophilic aromatic substitution with typical organolithium reagents. The aldimine products can be hydrolyzed under mild conditions to provide ortho-alkyl or ortho-phenyl benzaldehyde derivatives.
