Ultrasounds in small rodents: Arousal‐produced and arousal‐producing
Developmental Psychobiology, 1974AbstractRecent interpretations of ultrasonic signaling by infant and adult rodents have emphasized the quality of the eliciting stimuli and acoustical parameters of the vocalizations. Infant calls have been hypothesized as being of 2 types: coldelicited and tactually elicited.

Prediction of physiological arousability: a validation of the Arousal Predisposition Scale
Behaviour Research and Therapy, 1993The Arousal Predisposition Scale (APS) is a brief (12-item) scale, that purportedly measures arousability, and has already been shown to predict task related arousal changes measured via self-report indexes. To determine if APS scores could predict individual differences in physiological measures of arousal, it was administered to 239 subjects.

Trait Arousability-An Alternative to Trait Arousal
1987This chapter presents the theoretical rationale and procedures used to develop a questionnaire measure of individual differences in stimulus screening and associated differences in arousability. The rationale for the scale is presented in some detail because of the novelty of the concept of stimulus screening and because of the complex set of ...

AROUSAL GRADIENT AND PERFORMANCE
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1990A two-dimensional view of arousal was operationalized by controlling gradient and intensity of exercise-arousal in three experiments with 160 male subjects. In all three experiments, significant cognitive performance decrement occurred at moderate intensities of arousal during, or shortly after, steep-gradient arousal increases.

A two-dimensional view of arousal was operationalized by controlling gradient and intensity of exercise-induced arousal in two experiments with 80 undergraduate men. Significant cognitive performance decrement on a visual-search task occurred at high arousal intensity in the steep-gradient arousal conditions.

Subjects were divided into four groups based upon the possible combinations of high or low Extraversion and high or low General Activation. They learned two lists of paired associates in an A‐B, A‐Br paradigm, with a record being kept of the number of errors and the latency of correct responses.

Arousal as a Factor in Reminiscence
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1967Explanations of performance changes such as decrement and reminiscence are usually attributed to the development and dissipation of inhibition. It was suggested here that changes of activation level may also account for these performance phenomena.
