An optical isochronous array processor (OIAP) is a local regularly interconnected processing network that employs an array of identical optical processing elements. In an OIAP, incoming isochronous data are parallel processed in a fashion much like a propagating electromagnetic wavefront.

Beamforming and array processing with active arrays

Two separate active antenna arrays for transmitting (300 transistor power amplifiers) and receiving (768 channels) have been built.

This chapter takes a different approach to signal enhancement using spherical microphone arrays: a physically-motivated parametric representation of the sound field is introduced. It is shown that the sound field can be manipulated to achieve noise reduction or dereverberation by applying a time- and frequency-dependent gain to a reference signal.
