Limiting surge arrester failure under direct lightning strokes for attaining service continuity of distribution networks

IET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2020
This study introduces an arrangement of surge arrester, Rogowski coil, and triac to attain service continuity of distribution networks. This new arrangement is proposed to limit the arrester failure due to lightning flashes striking distribution feeders.

A novel detonation arrester containing a large disk with long triangular slits: Design and numerical simulation

, 2020
Aiming at the problem that common flame arresters can only extinguish deflagration flame, but cannot effectively extinguish detonation flame in large pipelines, this paper proposes a novel structure of detonation arrester based on heat transfer theory to

Fundamental studies of explosion arrester mitigation mechanisms

, 2020
We report the results of laboratory investigations of the behaviour during explosion mitigation by channels typical of those used in commercial explosion arrester devices.

Prognosis of Cardiac Arrest—Peri-arrest and Post-arrest Considerations

Emergency Medicine Clinics of North America, 2023
There has been only a small improvement in survival and neurologic outcomes in patients with cardiac arrest in recent decades. Type of arrest, length of total arrest time, and location of arrest alter the trajectory of survival and neurologic outcome.

Multi-Chamber Disc-Type Lightning Arrester for 13.8 kV Overhead Lines Protection

2019 11th Asia-Pacific International Conference on Lightning (APL), 2019
The article describes a multi-chamber disk-type arrester designed for lightning protection of 13.8 kV overhead lines, widely distributed in the countries of North and South America and South-East Asia.

Cardiac Arrest

The Physician and Sportsmedicine, 1990
In brief: Immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is required to provide a victim of cardiac arrest with artificial ventilation and circulation. The author reviews the basic principles of CPR (establishing an airway, providing ventilation, and initiating cardiac massage) and discusses the underlying dysrhythmias associated with cardiac arrest ...

Electroquasistatic quasi‐3D finite element simulation of a graded surge arrester

International journal of numerical modelling, 2019
Surge arresters of station class are equipped with field grading elements that break the rotational symmetry of the arrester body. To avoid a computationally expensive full three‐dimensional (3D) simulation, a quasi‐3D simulation procedure is presented ...

Operation Status monitoring System for Lightning Arrester on Line

SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwave and Optoelectronics, 2019
Lightning is a kind of natural discharge phenomenon in the atmosphere. But lightning strikes are a kind of meteorological disasters which threatens seriously for people's life and property. Lightning protection device is designed to eliminate or mitigate

Parameter optimisation of support vector machine using mutant particle swarm optimisation for diagnosis of metal-oxide surge arrester conditions

Journal of experimental and theoretical artificial intelligence (Print), 2018
This paper proposes an enhanced support vector machine (SVM), whose parameters are optimised by a novel mutant particle swarm optimisation (mutant PSO) algorithm to identify metal-oxide surge arrester conditions.

Metabolic arrest

Intensive Care Medicine, 1986
In hypoxia sensitive cells and tissues, the rates of glucose and O2 consumption are inversely related (Pasteur Effect). Under O2 limiting conditions the demands for glucose (glycogen) in such cells may drastically rise as a means for maintaining ATP turnover close to normoxic rates; nevertheless ion and electrical potentials cannot be sustained due to ...
