The distribution of thelytoky, arrhenotoky and androgenesis among castes in the eusocial Hymenoptera
Insectes Sociaux, 2017Thelytokous parthenogenesis is the production of females from unfertilized eggs. In this review we categorize the known thelytokous eusocial Hymenopterans (mostly ants) by their modes of worker and queen reproduction. The resultant tabulation reveals that: (1) there are no species in which queens are thelytokous and workers are exclusively ...

A Fundamental Theorem of Natural Selection for Sex Linkage or Arrhenotoky
The American Naturalist, 1972Equation (11) is a general equation for the change in geometric mean fitness at a male haploid or sex-linked locus when the selection intensity is small. The rate of change in fitness depends on the additive genetic variance in fitness, which is defined as the variance of the additive genotypic values when the additive model of gene action assumes no ...

Chromosoma, 1972
Parthenogenesis is reported in three soft scales with 2n=16. In the unfertilized eggs of all three, oogenesis is normal and diploidy is restored by the fusion of the division products of the haploid female pronucleus. In Lecanium putmani Phillips 12 of 13 uninseminated females collected in the wild produced only males.

Proceedings of the Royal Entomological Society of London. Series A, General Entomology, 1964
SYNOPSIS An account is given of the composition of populations in galleries formed by Xyleborus compactus in stems of coffee and cocoa in Western Nigeria. The incidence of arrhenotokous parthenogenesis and of a high degree of inbreeding is described and the possible significance of inbreeding in regard to variation in morphology and ...
