The problem of finding proper quantal operators for the time of arrival, when the source is at infinite distance from the detector, is investigated. It is shown that at least two Hermitian operators can be constructed which, in the Hilbert space of positive energy spectrum, are self-adjoint.

On Arrivals That See Time Averages
Operations Research, 1990We investigate when Arrivals See Time Averages (ASTA) in a stochastic model; i.e., when the stationary distribution of an embedded sequence, obtained by observing a continuous-time stochastic process just prior to the points (arrivals) of an associated point process, coincides with the stationary distribution of the observed process.

Abstract When, at two o’clock in the afternoon on the next day, Natividade boarded the trolley to go on I don’t know what shopping errands at the Rua do Ouvidor, she carried the phrase with her. The view of the bay did not distract her, nor the people passing by, nor the bumps of the street, nothing.

The sequence of excitation of cardiac muscles is greatly affected by any abnormality in the conduction system of the heart. Epicardial mapping for the measurement of activation time at different points is helpful for the diagnosis of such abnormalities.

The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, 1990
The accuracy of the paramedic's estimated time until arrival (ETA) to an emergency department has never been studied. Two hundred and eighty paramedic runs were prospectively studied in a suburban, residency-affiliated emergency department. The average ETA was 7.39 +/- 3.72 minutes.

Considering Zero-Arrival Time and Block-Arrival Time in Hierarchical Functional Timing Analysis
2006Timing analysis of complex state-of-the-art designs demands efficient algorithms able to cope with design complexity. Exploring the hierarchical information generally encountered in complex designs became mandatory to perform functional timing analysis (FTA) in acceptable execution times.

Space-time localization using times of arrival
2011 49th Annual Allerton Conference on Communication, Control, and Computing (Allerton), 2011We provide a computationally efficient framework for utilizing Time of Arrival (ToA) sensors to localize multiple events in close proximity in space and time. Conventional ToA-based localization algorithms are typically designed for single events. Na¨ive approaches for associating ToAs with events and then applying a conventional localization algorithm

Maximizing the Probability of Arriving on Time
2013We study the problem of maximizing the probability of arriving on time in a stochastic network. Nodes and links in the network may be congested or uncongested, and their states change over time and are based on states of adjacent nodes. Given a source, destination, and time limit, the goal is to adaptively choose the next node to visit to maximize the ...

Finding optimal paths in stochastic networks is an important topic in many scientific and engineering fields. To cope with uncertainty, various performance measures, including expected travel time, reliability, value at risk, and expectation with chance constraint, have been introduced.
