Absence of arsenate in DNA from arsenate-grown GFAJ-1 cells

open access: yes, 2020
A strain of Halomonas bacteria, GFAJ-1, has been claimed to be able to use arsenate as a nutrient when phosphate is limiting, and to specifically incorporate arsenic into its DNA in place of phosphorus.

Raman spectroscopy of some complex arsenate minerals—implications for soil remediation

open access: yes, 2003
The application of spectroscopy to the study of contaminants in soils is important. Among the many contaminants is arsenic, which is highly labile and may leach to non-contaminated areas.

Enhanced Adsorption of Arsenate from Contaminated Waters by Magnesium-, Zinc- or Calcium-Modified Biochar—Modeling and Mechanisms

open access: yesC
The adsorption of arsenate from wastewaters was investigated by applying Mg-, Zn- or Ca-modified nut residue biochar activated by nitrogen/steam. The parameters studied were the contact time, adsorbent dose, initial arsenate concentration and solution pH.

Arsenic (V) Removal from Aqueous Solution by Produced Iron and Detect Isoterms and Kinetic Adsorption

open access: yesMuhandisī-i Bihdāsht-i Muḥīṭ, 2014
Background: Zero-valent iron can control the sites contaminated Arsenic (V) used. The aim of this research is Arsenic (V) removal from aqueous solutions using of iron powder and detect isoterms and kinetic adsorption.

A polymorphism for phosphate uptake/arsenate tolerance in Holcus lanatus L.: is there a correlation with edaphic or environmental factors?

open access: yes, 1996
Arsenate tolerance in Holcus lanatus L. is achieved by suppression of the high affinity phosphate uptake system. Tolerant plants are found at high frequency on noncontaminated soils.
