A Proposal to Measure the Quasiparticle Poisoning Time of Majorana Bound States [PDF]
We propose a method of measuring the fermion parity lifetime of Majorana fermion modes due to quasiparticle poisoning. We model quasiparticle poisoning by coupling the Majorana modes to electron reservoirs, explicitly breaking parity conservation in the system. This poisoning broadens and shortens the resonance peak associated with Majorana modes. In a

Abstract Botulism is a severe and often fatal disease in equine patients worldwide. Clostridium botulinum is a ubiquitous soil organism which produces a potent neurotoxin resulting in neuromuscular blockade and flaccid paralysis in affected animals. Definitive diagnosis is often impractical or impossible, leading to diagnosis and treatment based on ...

ABSTRACT In a pure event semantics for natural language, the domain of quantification and predication is limited to events and states. I offer pure event semantic analyses of several phenomena, some of which have not been treated before in formal semantics. In the pure event semantics sketched in the second section, nouns are state predicates, and this

ABSTRACT Activities associated with illegal mining, ‘galamsey’, often result in significant environmental degradation, particularly to water bodies. In the case of River Oda, like all other affected areas in Ghana, galamsey operations contribute to the pollution of the water body with some heavy metals such as mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd) and arsenic (As)

Rapid and Efficient Arsenic Removal by Iron Electrocoagulation Enabled with in Situ Generation of Hydrogen Peroxide. [PDF]
Millions of people are exposed to toxic levels of dissolved arsenic in groundwater used for drinking. Iron electrocoagulation (FeEC) has been demonstrated as an effective technology to remove arsenic at an affordable price.

Risk Based Arsenic Rational Sampling Design for Public and Environmental Health Management [PDF]
Groundwater contaminated with arsenic has been recognized as a global threat, which negatively impacts human health. Populations that rely on private wells for their drinking water are vulnerable to the potential arsenic-related health risks such as cancer and birth defects.

Metal Poisoning: Threat and Management [PDF]
Exposure to toxic metals remains a wide spread occupational and environmental problems in world. Due to their widespread use in human activities such as industry, agriculture and even as medicine numerous health risks may be associated with exposure to ...
